Mhm, these fossils tend to contain preserved genetic material of Pokémon. There's a facility in- Pewter City, I believe? -that can extract it and create a living clone of the original specimen.
I feel like it was a different name, but that could be localization...
[Or. Dimensions, but hey.] Maybe both? I mean, I have a ghost that keeps using my pokegear to try and send messages, and in my first month here I found something that turns into anything.
Oh! Sure! [Alright, let's just get on in there...] Honestly I feel sort of bad for the little guy, I caught them but didn't really feel like they'd be good on the team...
That's probably a good idea with your rotom though; they're really tricky! I got lucky with Gear, they're at least a little responsible...ahhh...here!
[Ok, out comes the Ditto pokeball!] Ahhh...where's the best spot to let them out...
[And just- does the DittoMonitor have all the right cords and stuff? Cause if so she's going to try plugging it into the PC and see if it actually works.]

[Still looking over the fossil.]
You'll have a bit of a journey to get this cloned, but I imagine if you spin it properly the team may pay for it, at least.

...Wait what? Cloning??
[Explain!!]

...mnnnh, I think I saw Pewter on the..Kanto map? ...I wanted to get through the map here first, but maybe after...
[Can't be that hard to get there right?] I feel like this is how we got that one dinosaur movie, somehow...
[She can't recall the name. It's probably Not jurrasic whatever though.]

Possibly due to more advanced technology, possibly due to Pokémon physiology.

[Probably both, honestly.]
Oh, really? Do you have it on you?

'Gear' is in my dorm right now... ...Ditto's just in the PC, I could log in from here probably.

[She sets the fossil down carefully and slides over to a PC, powering it up.]
I've got a Rotom myself. Very useful, but I've been keeping it away from the lab equipment just to be safe.

[Just a foot or two tall, she thinks?]
no subject
Hmmm...this table maybe? [It seems empty, but she's gotta ask, because...something something contaminants in a lab.]
no subject
[She's just gonna grab a spray bottle of disinfectant and some paper towels and wipe down that table quick.]
That should do nicely.
[And tugging on some latex gloves because science..?]

Out you come..! [And out comes...Ditto!]
Dii!
[Gelatinous and friendly as ever.]
no subject
[Just kind of squatting a little to get on eye level with the Ditto, as you do. She gives it an exploratory poke.]
Carly says you can transform into just about anything, could you do that for us? Just pick something small around the lab and change.
no subject
[Just something in the room? Well, that's relatively easy! Hmmm....
Ditto becomes...The PC monitor!]
Oooo!
no subject
[She considers this for a moment.]
I'm just going to try something-
[And just- does the DittoMonitor have all the right cords and stuff? Cause if so she's going to try plugging it into the PC and see if it actually works.]

Mostly because, to the surprise of perhaps no one, a ditto cannot completely mimic the functions of a PC monitor cable.]
DI!! [Ditto is ditto again, and also part of ditto's 'arm' seems to be awkwardly against the PC.]
Mnnnnh, I guess they have limits somewhere in the end...
